Like the sun, She shined after his thunderstorms, She formed the rainbow over his clouded thoughts, And gave hope to his weary heart.

It was one of those days that can't seem to pass right. Early in the morning, the alarm clock rang non-stop. A peaceful sleep, disturbed. Tick tock, it was time to head to the office. A whipping motion of his hand and the black coffee tinted his shirt. Briefcase in one arm and jacket in the other, Noah chased a bus he knew he would miss. Birds were singing to the sun that had just rose, but this day for Noah was only going to get worse.

With each passing day, tear-soaked colleagues had been flooding out of the main office. There was only one guess for anyone who wondered what was going on. Today was Tuesday, and today was his turn. Work had seemed all so right for him, always ahead of schedule, pitching in ideas that won the race, everyone liked him, Noah was the star of the show.

There was no reason; there was no warning.

Why did he get laid off?

He could not figure out an answer.

A cardboard box filled with pictures and files was all the lousy company left him with.

No place else to go, only home.

As if straight out from a soap opera, rain began to pour. Sky juice covered the already soggy doormat, and the wind blew against him, insulting him with cold, piercing howls.

At the table, he saw a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows inside, next to it a note. “In the bathroom, the scented candles are lit. :)"

Like a joke, the drink burned his tongue. But he was okay. He savored the sweetness, got into a towel and went into the bathroom.

“I love you so much…” Thunders and lighting fought behind the walls, but the bubbles hushed the night. Scented candles, bubbles bath, champagne by the tub and the perfect woman. Nothing else mattered.

She knew him so well. She saw through his half-day at work. She saw through his excuses. She knew him so well. She knew exactly what to do. Noah and Rachel. Nothing else mattered.
